General Information:

The CLEP is used to obtain recognition for college level learning. Depending on the results of your tests you may be granted academic credit, waive prerequisite requirements, allow you to begin your college education at an advanced or intermediate level, or verify requirements for certification, licensing, or promotion.

Educational Testing Service does not grant credit. You will need to check directly with the institution to verify if they will grant credit on the results of your tests.

The University of New Mexico offers the National CLEP examination.  CLEP examinations are Computer Based exams. Examinees must schedule a time by calling the Testing Center at 277-5346 or signing up at the Testing Center. Seating is limited per date so early registration is recommended.

On the day of the test examinees will need to report to Room 2 at the Testing Center 15 minutes prior to scheduled appointment. The test will be administered on a computer. Examinees may pay the CLEP fee of $50.00 using a credit card, check or money order. Examinees must also pay a UNM fee of $15.00 using cash, check or money order.
Scores for the tests will be reported shortly after the test date. Scores for essay portions of tests will be mailed 7-9 weeks after the test date.

Please call the Testing Center at 277-5346 for additional information regarding the computer based CLEP.
