Theta Xi: Our Chapter

What we can do for you

Beta Alpha Psi gives its members a chance to interact with the professional accounting, finance, and management information systems community, as well as an opportunity to explore all the possibilities in these professions.   In addition, we have a long-standing tradition of community service, and all of our members become a part of this tradition.  Our activities enhance the lives of our members and their careers after college.

We are very active in the professional recruiting process.  We invite professional interviewers to hold mock interviews for Beta Alpha Psi members only.  We operate the Accounting Lab, which is located in the R.O. Anderson Schools of Management, Room 2059.  We also hold weekly technical meetings, featuring speakers from the accounting, finance, and management information systems professions.

Beta Alpha Psi gives four scholarship awards per semester for "OUTSTANDING MERITORIOUS SERVICE" to the honor society. The first place scholarship for members is $300, and second place for members is $200. The first place scholarship for candidates is $300, and second place for candidates is $200.

We participate in various service activities around the community, including the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, Road Runner Food Bank, Doggy Dash and Dawdle, UNM Spring Storm, and many more.

Who we are

Beta Alpha Psi is a national honor society for students pursuing an accounting, finance, or management information systems degree.  Beta Alpha Psi is represented at the University of New Mexico by the Theta Xi Chapter.  We received our charter in 1994.  We are dedicated to the promotion of the accounting, finance, and management information systems professions and to the support of these students at UNM.
