Week of September 15-19, 2003

This week's fun file.  Take a look at these optical illusions and email me your observations.  This is a new weekly activity.

This week's current event.  Read the article titled Members of committee: Endangered Species Act needs to be modified.  You may also want to read the other articles about water rights as well.  When you've finished, email me your thoughts about who owns water rights and what our priorities should be.  How do you feel about losing irrigation water to preserve an endangered species?  Responses will be posted next week.  This is a new weekly activity.

This week's political cartoon.  Political cartoons are the most difficult items on the GED Social Studies test for many people.  This will be good practice for what you will find on the test.  New cartoons will appear weekly.

Week of June 16-20, 2003

Frog Dissection is an interactive anatomy lesson.  You get to dissect a frog, learn about the anatomy of a vertebrate and you don't even have to get your hands dirty!

Week of May 12-16, 2003

Fun Stuff is a page of links to games that will help improve your thinking and logic skills.  These skills are especially helpful when taking a multiple choice test and they provide a break from the regular study routine.  Have fun!

Week of April 21-25, 2003

20th Century America is posted under Social Studies.  The dead links have been cleaned up and a few new sites are added.  It is suggested as a group project, but you can do all or part of it on your own.  There are decades that have no links yet, so you'll have to let me know if you want to work on one of these so I can find some links right away.  I also need to re-create the questions for Rebel Without a Cause and Grapes of Wrath

Week of April 14-18, 2003

Writing an Essay is completed, topics and all.

A GED site that is easier to use and has more resources has been added:  McGraw-Hill/Contemporary GED Satellites On-line Learning Centers - This site has sample chapters of the books for each subject, practice tests and other on-line resources.  Just click on the subject you want to study and see what they have to offer.  If you take any tests or quizzes, there is an option to email me the results.  Please send any scores to me, tshiplet@unm.edu.
