Writing Topics

Presented below are several topics you can choose to write about.  You may also write on any other topic you want, just be sure to write your topic at the beginning of your essay.  Email your essay to me and I'll write comments on what you did well and where you can improve your writing.

1. Describe the worst job you ever had.
2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
3. Describe in detail how to: make your favorite recipe, tune-up a car, build a bookshelf, or anything else you would like to teach someone how to do.
4. If you could spend a day with anyone, living or not, who would it be, why and what would you do?
5. Describe your dream vacation, dream car or dream home.
6. Are television programs too violent?  Why or why not?
7. What superstitions did you grow up with?  Do you still believe in them?
8. How do you write a good essay?
9. What are the advantages or disadvantages to having pets?
10. How would you teach someone how to drive?
11. Should people who pass the GED test receive a high school diploma or a GED certificate?  Explain your position.
12. If you could make one improvement to your community what would it be and why?
13. When is war justified?
14. What is one social problem in our society and what can we do about it?
15. What does passing the GED test mean to you?
