Our mission is to deliver effective training and professional development opportunities to help faculty and staff help all UNM's students succeed and graduate.
The Faculty & Staff Development and Engagement component of the UNM Title V grant focuses on professional development opportunities for faculty and academic advisors. Title V sponsors various workshops, training sessions, and institutes throughout the year to enhance faculty and staff understanding about UNM's students. The main goals of this component are to develop advising standards, train academic advisors, implement faculty diversity workshops/training and increase Hispanic faculty by 10%.
To help faculty and staff understand UNM's diverse student population, the department has begun producing online training modules about the state and the university. In addition, we are continually researching effective pedagogy, teaching styles, retention methods, advisement techniques and theory. We also work closely with the Faculty Steering Committee which oversees the faculty portion of the grant's goals as well as the Provost's Committee for Advising on advisement matters.
