Glazeware: A Chinese Gift to the World

Red glazes

Red glaze bowl
2012.91.111, red glaze jar; Qing dynasty, 1644–1911
Eason Eige Collection; photo by B. Bernard

Like the jar on the previous page, this bowl has the white rim so common on Qing dynasty red glaze pieces. When the bowl broke, the owner valued it enough to have it repaired. Metal staples used in the repair appear as dots at the right edge of the bowl, which is 6 inches (15 cm) tall.
