2012.91.157, jar; Republic of China period? (A.D. 1900–1930)
Eason Eige Collection; Photo by B. Bernard
This jar is 17 1/2 inches (44 cm) tall, not counting the lid or wood stand.
If, as we suspect, it dates to the early Republic of China period, it's
evidence that beautiful objects could still be made and sold despite all
the turmoil in China. The photo below shows the jar off the stand, and
with the lid removed.
