In Chinese culture, lotus blossoms convey a variety of positive qualities,
including tranquility and purity of mind. The original owner of this bowl
would have been reminded of those qualities each time he or she gazed at her
prized possession. The next image, below, provides a better look at the crackled
blue finish inside the bowl.
