2012.91.105, stoneware jar; Han dynasty (206 B.C.–A.D. 220)
Eason Eige Collection; photo by B. Bernard
This jar is 7 inches (18 cm tall). After it was thrown on a wheel, the
potter added the handles. He or she then added a double volute of clay
over each handle, as a final decorative touch. The photo provided below
shows the double volute.
