Blanc de Chine is French for "White from China" and is the common Western term for an all-white porcelain made at Dehua in Fujian province. It was first produced during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) and continues to be made today. Blanc de Chine statues of Guan Yin, the "Goddess of Mercy," are common—as are busts and statues of Chairman Mao.
