To make an appointment for tutoring or to arrange a study group call 925-8900 or stop in  the Learning Center. If you can't keep
your appointment please call to cancel or reschedule.

Tutoring is for all students ranging from those students who want to keep their 'A' or 'B', to those who want to pass a required course.
Tutoring is free for all UNM Valencia students and the Learning Center has tutors for most courses that are taught at this campus.

The Learning Center is a comfortable atmosphere that is conducive to studying and learning. There are large tables for doing homework,
studying with classmates, or working with a tutor. There are also Group Study Rooms and Study Cubicles and two open labs. Classes are
never scheduled in these labs so there is always a computer available and tutors to assist you.

Peer tutors:

• participate in tutor training
• have passed the courses they tutor with a grade of 'A' or 'B'
• assist students with their understanding of course content
• facilitate learner growth
• encourage independent learning
• use coaching techniques
• use active listening and questioning techniques
• will not proofread papers or do students homework

The peer tutor training program at The Learning Center has been certified through the  College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).  We are CRLA Certified through June, 2011.
