Alphabetical Table of Policies

IMPORTANT: Deans, directors, and department heads are responsible for ensuring that all related departmental processes, procedures, and/or documents are updated to reflect new or revised policies.

IMPORTANT: Paper copies of new and revised policies are no longer mailed to manual custodians, so if a department wishes to continue to maintain a hard copy of their manual, they need to click on the links provided and print out replacement pages to insert in their manual. We encourage everyone to use this electronic version of the manual. You will always have the most recent policies and not run the risk that a hard copy manual has not been updated. In addition, the electronic format ensures wide access to policies, enables electronic searches, and allows for quick update of policies.

**NEW**  The following proposed policy and/or changes are available for campus review and comment.  Please send comments to ubppm@unm.edu no later than December 16, 2009.

Proposed Policy 6410 "Museums and Collections" is based on a preliminary document developed by the UNM Museum Collections Committee to address concerns raised in an Internal Audit.  It is available for campus review and comment.  Click here to view campus comments on the proposed policy.

Proposed changes to Policy 3300 "Paid Time" were developed in response to Staff Council Resolution 2009-#1  and in accordance with Policy 2100 "Sustainability."  The proposed change encourages employees to use public transportation and encourages supervisors to work with employees on adjusting work schedule to help employees avoid long waits.  Click here to view campus comments on the proposed policy.

Proposed changes to Policy 7200 "Cash Management" add requirements to Section 3.2.4. to comply with the Payment Card Industry's Data Security Standards (PCI).  These standards are designed to help protect against exposure and possible theft of account and personal cardholder information.  There are additional proposed changes made to comply with Homeland Security restrictions and update internal control.  Click here to view campus comments on the proposed policy.

Newly Approved:  Policy 2040 "Identity Theft Prevention Program" was approved by President Schmidly effective November 1, 2009.  The policy was developed in response to a new regulation issued by the Federal Trade Commission intended to reduce the risk of identity theft (the FTC delayed implementation of the new regulations to November 1, 2009).  The proposed policy was sent to the campus for a review and comment April 16, 2009, and all concerns raised were addressed.

Policy 6130 "Emergency Control" was revised effective October 1, 2009 to comply with current federal emergency plans and procedures. Click here to see redlined version showing changes.

The University of New Mexico is a tobacco-free campus. Policy 2250 “Smoking on University Property” was revised effective August 1, 2009.

Policy 2500 "Acceptable Computer Use" was sent to the campus for review.  Based on comments received, the proposed changes are being revisited.
