IMPORTANT: Deans, directors, and department heads are responsible for ensuring that all related departmental processes, procedures, and/or documents are updated to reflect new or revised policies.

IMPORTANT: Paper copies of new and revised policies are no longer mailed to manual custodians, so if a department wishes to continue to maintain a hard copy of their manual, they need to click on the links provided and print out replacement pages to insert in their manual. We encourage everyone to use this electronic version of the manual. You will always have the most recent policies and not run the risk that a hard copy manual has not been updated. In addition, the electronic format ensures wide access to policies, enables electronic searches, and allows for quick update of policies.

NEWS: President Schmidly approved the revised travel policy which applies to all travel reimbursement forms received by UNM Financial Services AFTER 5PM on 12/16/11.  It can be viewed at http://www.unm.edu/~ubppm/ubppmanual/4030.htm    

 

NEWS: President Schmidly approved two new policies and revisions to 19 existing policies with a Jan 1, 2012 effective date.  The policies are listed below:

Policy 2680 “Payroll Overpayments and Collection”  NEW

Policy 3200 “Employee Classification”

Policy 3230 “Performance Review and Recognition”

Policy 3235 “Staff Recognition and Awards”

Policy 3250 “New Employee Orientation”

Policy 3270 “Suspected Employee Impairment at Work”

New Approved Policies:  President Schmidly approved minor revisions to Policy 2010 “Contracts Signature Authority and Review” and Policy 2015 “Contract Management and Monitoring” effective November 1, 2011.

 

 

The following policies went out for campus comment, but based on the feedback they are under further review:

 

Policy 1310 “Student Fee Review Board Policy” http://www.unm.edu/~ubppm/d1310hl.htm  The recommended changes reflect a collaboration between ASUNM President Jaymie Roybal and GPSA President Katie Richardson that will ultimately benefit the student body and are fully supported by both presidents.

  1. The composition of the board will be five (5) undergraduates and two (2) graduates with one (1) alternate for the undergraduates and two (2) alternates for the graduate students. The composition of the board better reflects the population of students on campus.

2.       All policy changes and fee increases or decreases must be approved by six (6) voting members of the board.

3.       All applications will be treated equally and follow the same process for allocation and approval of student fees.

4.       The new process will result in more equitable and accurate recommendations and will provide the opportunity for individuals to have a greater voice in determining appropriate funding amounts.   Click here to view campus comments received on proposed changes to this policy.

Policy 7000 “Budgets and Fund Balances”

 

Policy 2140 “Use and Possession of Alcohol on University Property” http://www.unm.edu/~ubppm/d2140hl.htm Proposed changes were developed by an Alcohol and Drug Policy Committee appointed by the President charged with reviewing related policies.  The proposed changes update the policy and clarify restrictions on the use of alcohol on University property.  Click here to view campus comments received on this proposed policy revision.

 

Policy 2150 “Sponsorship by Alcohol Beverage Companies” http://www.unm.edu/~ubppm/d2150hl.htm Proposed changes were developed by an Alcohol and Drug Policy Committee appointed by the President charged with reviewing related policies.  The proposed changes place additional limitations on alcohol-related advertising, marketing, and sponsorship and clarify requirements and approvals.  Proposed changes also include changing the policy title to “Alcohol-Related Advertising, Marketing, and Sponsorship.”  Click here to view campus comments received on this proposed policy revision.
