Dual Credit/Concurrent Enrollment is a program designed to provide high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit while still enrolled in high school by taking University courses normally not offered at the high school.
Admission to Dual Credit/Concurrent Enrollment is in Non-Degree status and is not considered “Early Admission” to the University. Students desiring to continue in degree status after high school graduation must fulfill the admission requirements described in the current UNM Catalog.

These are the minimum requirements for admission to the Dual Credit/Concurrent Enrollment Program. Individual high schools may require higher qualifications before certifying and recommending a student. Meeting the criteria listed does not mean that the
student will be automatically admitted to the Concurrent Enrollment or Dual Credit Programs. In all cases the final admission determination will be made by the Vanessa G. Harris, Director of Advisement.
Must Meet: minimum quantitative requirement one or more of the guidelines listed below:
Students who have attended a non-accredited /non-approved high school or home school may apply for Concurrent Enrollment; however, they must meet the ACT or SAT requirement to be eligible.

For students who are admitted into the University Dual Enrollment, students meet one-on-one with the Dual Enrollment Coordinator, the coordinator/advisor and student work in partnership to create an academic plan that works with their current high school schedule, meets academic need for completing core curriculum course and helps prepare students for matriculation into college. The coordinator/advisor is the expert on Core requirements. In addition, they are required to have a working knowledge of all UNM undergraduate degrees and programs to provide college planning and alternative options for future courses.
Dual enrollment is being overseen by the University Advisement Center, where is has been since 2006. The number of student enrollment has seen a steady increase over the years. Enrollment in multiple dual credit courses has more thanquadrupled
over the past six years. Currently 1/5th of the dual enrollment population are taking multiple UNM courses. The six (6) most popular courses taken by dual enrollment students include:
English 101
Psychology 105
Sociology 101
Communication and Journalism 130
Math 121
University 101- (College readiness)

New Mexico is among several states that have enacted state legislation designed to help students graduate on time or early. Several of these policies include promoting or expanding dual enrollment programs. Dual Credit/Concurrent Enrollment is a program designed to provide high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit while still enrolled in high school by taking University courses normally not offered at the high school. Starting with graduates in 2013, seniors must complete an AP, Honors, distant learning or dual enrollment course to meet a state requirement for high school graduation.
Tuition is paid by the state
School provides textbooks
Parent (students) are responsible for all fees (computer lab/studio or class fees)
Home-school or private school student may enroll but are responsible for paying tuition/fees
