WELCOME TO THE OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR OF UNIVERSITY ADVISEMENT
The Office of the Director of University Advisement is a newly formed office with the primary responsibility of overseeing and assessment of campus wide advising. The Office is responsible for maintaining an active discussion on advising policies, advising procedures, and training for both professional and faculty advising. The Director of University of Advisement is responsible for the institutional objectives and general leadership of academic advising, as well as the promotion of the value and progress of academic advising at UNM.
The University of New Mexico is a unique campus for advising. We currently have twelve Colleges and five Student Affairs advising centers each with their own unique approach to advising students. The various advising center utilizes a different advising approach from prescription to developmental advising, holistic to appreciative advising, or intrusive to advising as teaching.
The mission of this office is to work collaboratively with each academic advising unit to enhance the quality of academic advising for students at the University of New Mexico.
