Surplus Property
The UNM Surplus Property Hard Drive Erasure Certification Form is required for all departments that want to surplus computers. It must be signed by the Department Chair, Administrator, or Manager. Please indicate your department name on the form.
Proper erasure is defined as:
a) using a commercial degaussing product to erase magnetic disks, OR
b) overwriting stored data a minimum of five times, OR
c) reformatting the drives ("F disking")
When completed, please fax the form along with the Disposal of Surplus Property Form to 277-1130. We will then schedule a pick up. The original UNM Surplus Property Hard Drive Erasure Certification Form will be picked up by the Surplus Property staff along with the computers.
