Dr. Ariane Pinson
Ariane Pinson is a geoarchaeologist specializing in hunter-gatherer paleogeography in the desert West. She is best known for her detailed paleoenvironmental reconstruction of the landscape surrounding the Dietz Clovis site in eastern Oregon (see her article in the January 2008 issue of Geoarchaeology). She has also conducted geoarchaeological research with the San Marcos Pueblo Archaeological Project with the University of New Mexico, led by UNM professor Ann Ramenofsky, with the Mission San Marcos Archaeological Project led by AMNH archaeologist David Hurst Thomas, and at various other prehistoric sites in New Mexico.
