FAQs

What is the deadline?
The exact deadline varies every year, but it is usually in mid- February.

How do I know if I was placed at the university of my choice?
Students are placed during the National NSE Conference in early to mid-March every year. After the Conference students will be notify of their placement by an official UNM NSE letter by mail or by e-mail, or you can call the UNM NSE office at 277-3361 after the completion of the NSE Placement Conference.

How are the students selected for placement?
Student exchange rankings for placements at competitive schools are based on references, GPA, and letters of intent.

How long is the exchange?
Traditionally, students participate in the exchange program for two semesters. Students can participate for one semester, should the host school allow single semester exchanges.

Can I attend two separate schools, as long as I do not go beyond my two semester eligibility?
Yes, but please speak to the NSE Coordinator for details, because this process is a little more complicated.

Can I withdraw after applying? How about after I've been placed?
You can withdraw from the NSE program at any time; however, you will forfeit your $150.00 application fee.

How do I receive my financial aid while on exchange?
Any financial aid beyond tuition can be direct deposited into your bank account. You will just need to set this up via your LOBOWEB Account.
