General Questions:

Q: What are the Office of the Registrar's hours?
A: 8 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday

 

Q: Where is Records and Registration?
A: We are located on the second floor of the Student Services Center, Room 250.

 

 

Q: What is the Office of the Registrar's address?

Q: When is Spring/Winter Break?
A: Refer to the Academic Calendar.

 

 

Q: How do I register for a closed class?
A: Need to fill out a yellow enrollment authorization card found at the Records and Registration Office located in SSC Room 250.

 

 

Q: How do I add a course after the deadline?
A: Need to fill out a pink late enrollment authorization card.

 

 

Q: Where can I get a green/yellow/pink card and where do I turn it in?
A: You can pick up a green card from Grad school or the Records and Registration Office.  You can pick-up the yellow and pink cards at the Records and Registration Office (some departments have them too. Check with yours.) Once they have the appropriate signatures bring them back to the Records and Registration Office.

 

 

Q: When is the last day to drop a class?
A: Refer to the Academic Calendar.

  

Q: How can I get my PIN reset?
A: One of three ways, 1) come to the Records and Registration Office and show a photo ID, 2) fax or 3) mail your request including your UNM ID, phone number, and signature.  Our fax number is (505) 277-6809.

 


Schedule/Catalog ...... more info

Q: When does the Schedule of Classes come out?
A: The Schedule of Classes is available on-line approximately two weeks prior to registration for a specified semester.  Please click "more info" above for the current schedule.  A Schedule Quick View is also available at the same location that is updated nightly during registration.

 

Q: Where can I get a printed copy of the Catalog?
A: Contact the UNM Bookstore at (505) 277-5451.

 


Lobo Card ...... more info

 

Q: Why doesn't my Lobo Card work?
A: There could be several reasons why your card doesn't work. 

  • You're not enrolled - contact the Records and Registration Office.
  • Your magnetic strip is bad - contact the Lobo Card office
  • You're using an old, non-current Lobo Card - contact the Lobo Card office

Residency/Reciprocal Program 

 

Q: How do I get New Mexico residency?  ...... more info
A: Refer to the Catalog for residency questions. 

 

 

Q: What is the Reciprocal Program?   ...... more info
A: It is a program between some New Mexico and Colorado schools to trade students for up to eight semesters and receive in-state tuition rates.  The students must take 30 credits per year and maintain  full-time status.  For more information or to apply for this program, contact the Records and Registration Office at (505) 277-2383. 

 


Transcripts/Enrollment Verification ...... more info

Q: How do I request a transcript?
A: You may fax, mail, or come to the Records and Registration Office in person to request your transcript. 

 

Q: How do I request a verification of enrollment?
A: You may fax, mail, or come to the Records and Registration Office in person to request your enrollment verification.  Information to include in your request is: name, semester verifying, mailing address or fax number, and your signature.

 


Diplomas ...... more info

Q: Are diplomas presented at the graduation ceremony?
A: No.  They are available by mail or pick-up in approximately 4-6 weeks after the semester is over.

 

Q: Is there a fee for the diploma?

A: There is NO fee for diplomas.

 

Q: Will my diploma be held if there's a financial obligation to the University that I haven't paid?
A: No

 

Q: How can I order a duplicate diploma?
A: There is a $15 charge for duplicate diplomas.  

You can place a request in person at the Records and Registration Office (or) 

You can place your request in writing remembering to include your written signature, date of request, current/previous name(s), social security number/UNM ID, date of birth, date graduated, degree received, major or college, mailing address, daytime telephone number, Email address, check money order, or credit card information (or)

You can complete the Replacement Diploma Form.

 

Q: How long does it take to get a duplicate diploma?
A: It usually takes about 2-6 weeks.

 

Q: I graduated last semester but still haven't received my diploma.
A: If you haven't received your diploma in 8-10 weeks then contact the office at 277-6310.

Q: Is graduation automatic?
A: No, you need to contact your college advisor.

 

Q: How can I tell if I'm on the graduation list?
A: Contact your college advisor.

 

Q: I'm not going to complete my degree requirements until Summer semester, but I'd like to go through Spring commencement.  Should I file a degree application?
A: If you are within 6 hours of graduating at the end of the Spring semester, you may request permission from the Office of the University Secretary to attend the Spring commencement.

 

Q: Will my name appear on the commencement program if I don't file a degree application?
A: No, it won't.

 

Q: Where do I get my cap and gown, announcements, etc?
A: These are available at the UNM Bookstore.
