The Department of English Language and Literature at the University of New Mexico at Valencia Campus is a part of one of the largest and most vibrant departments in the University of New Mexico.  Our undergraduate students pursue diverse studies in many disciplines.  In our department, they enjoy a rich learning environment in which they learn to communicate effectively, to read critically, and to write professionally.  The Department of Language and Literature provides essential core courses required of every undergraduate who attends UNM.  With traditional classroom based instruction, on-line courses, and hybrid sections, we have the flexibility to meet the needs of our unique student population.

Dr. Danizete Martinez
Program Coordinator of The Department of Language and Literature

Danizete Martínez has a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of New Mexico. She currently oversees English instructors and courses at the UNM Valencia Campus, and teaches all levels of college English. Her scholarly interests focus on twentieth-century American literature, Southwestern literary and critical studies, and Chicana/o identity and cultural production within literary studies.
