Program Description

The associate of science in health education (ASHE) degree provides the first two years of study for students planning to pursue a bachelor of science degree at UNM-Albuquerque Campus in the professional areas of health education (Track I, school health education, or Track II, community health education).

Career and Educational Advancement Opportunities

The ASHE degree program includes multidisciplinary requirements needed to continue into a bachelor of science in health education program required for professional occupations in the area of community health or school health education. Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in all pre-admission course work.

Program Requirements

Total credit hours required: 62 (48 hours of general education courses and 14 hours of program-specific courses). Please refer to the University of New Mexico Core Curriculum on pages 72-73 for a list of allowed courses for Social & Behavioral Sciences, Humanities, and Fine Arts.
