Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant

NM Supplemental Student Incentive Grant

 

 

 

 

A student who is financially dependent upon his/her parents or legal guardian who are non-residents of New Mexico cannot be approved for residency.

At the time the students applies for residency (if under 23 years of age), a copy of his/her parents' or guardians' 1040 or 1040A U.S. income tax form of the previous year must be submitted with the application.

If the student is shown to be a dependent on this tax form, he/she is not eligible for residency apart from his/her parents or guardian.

Federal Pell Grant

The Federal Pell Grant is a need based grant which requires the FAFSA to be completed in order to determine eligibility.

Students must provide certain income information, i.e. Federal tax return, child support paid/received, social security benefits, or TANF benefits.

A minimum enrollment status of three credit hours is usually required.

A Federal Pell Grant is not repaid. Students must adhere to the Satisfactory Academic Progress Guidelines in order to continue receiving the Federal Pell Grant.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

This program is for students who demonstrate exceptional financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Enrollment status of at least half time is required.

SEOG is not repaid.

New Mexico Supplemental Student Incentive Grant (NMSSIG)

The NMSSIG combines federal and state funds in order to permit financially needy New Mexicans to pursue a higher education.

To be eligible for this program, a student must be enrolled as a half-time student.

A NMSSIG does not have to be repaid.
