THE BYLAWS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO STUDENT ASSOCIATION OF DISABILITY AWARENESS (ADW)
NAME: The name of this club shall hertofore be known as "Association for Disability Awareneess" or otherwise be known as (ADW). ADW is affiliated with the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus.
MISSION STATEMENT: ADW believes that academic development is the result of responsible action and properly focused energy. We believe that top quality campus and community service, mentoring other students, conscientious fundraising, membership support, ever improving communications, coordinated club operations, prudent budgeting and a well managed calendar of events are essential tools that must be properly managed to be successful.
We believe that the pride and mental sharpness that come with academic achievement spark our overall performance. We expect the ADW members to be fully comitted to their success, and that of ADW; to respect the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus rules, policies, and goals, and always interact with each other in a respectful manner. We believe that our members will develop leadership skills and help other students by encouraging them to pursue their academic goals. We will demonstrate our commitment through campus and community service and mentoring.
To perpetuate the success of ADW, our membership must work to replenish itself with the ideas and energy of new members.
MEMBERSHIP: Membership in ADW shall be open to any student with a disability. We are not biased to physical, emotional, mental, learning or other disabilities.
PURPOSE: The overall goal of ADW is to encourage a sense of civic responsibility among students through mentoring and participation on one's campus and in the community. The purpose of ADW is to foster positive attitudes and changes in the lives of students through expanding educational awareness, modeling leadership skills, encouraging personal growth, providing campus/community services, and broadening career opportunities.
ADVISOR: ADW officer shall unanimously agree upon and appoint an advisor.
MEETINGS: ADW shall meet at least once per month, the last Friday of the month.
QUORUM: 50% plus one of the ADW members shall constitute a quorum at any meeting.
AMENDMENTS: Proposals for revision to the ADW Bylaws may be presented by any ADW member. The propsed amendment will be sent to all ADW members and voted on by the members in attendance.
