Open Microsoft Works (.wps) document with Microsoft Word:

A .WPS file is a word processing document that was composed with Microsoft Works. Microsoft Works is the baby brother of Microsoft Office — it has the same sort of applications, but on a smaller scale and with a less expensive price tag.
A .WPS file can be opened with Microsoft Word. Just follow these steps:

  1. Right click on the .WPS file. The context menu will appear.
  2. Click on “Open with…”.
  3. Click on “Select the program from a list”.
  4. Choose “Microsoft Office Word” from the list of programs.

When Word opens up, a dialog box will ask if you wish to convert the .WPS file from Microsoft Works format. Click “OK”, and the document will open up in Word.
