1. Esther made the motion to approve the meeting minutes of 5/5/04.   The motion was seconded by Elaine, the vote was unanimous, and the minutes were adopted. 
2. Reinaldo showed a sample of the new catalog that will be ready when classes start in the fall.
3. There was discussion on how to spend the instructional equipment budget.  Requests were made by each department.  Items were discussed and either approved, rejected, or put on hold by the Council.  Mary Robinson moved to approve the resulting budget proposal, Kevin seconded, and the proposal was accepted.  Reinaldo will forward a spreadsheet to Council members with the results.  Click here to access instructional equipment expense sheet.
4. Martin presented an update on computer installations.  He also asked that internet radio not be played in classrooms or at staff computers because it bogs down the system.
5. Reinaldo updated the Council on his upcoming vacation and work schedule.  He announced that convocation is Wednesday 8/18 at 9:30 a.m.  A general faculty meeting is scheduled at 1:30 that day.  Various training sessions for faculty will take place during the same week at times to be determined.
6. Other announcements:

• FWEC will be open at the beginning of the semester but showers will not work for several weeks

• The Health Building is on schedule for completion in spring '05

• The adjunct office area will be demolished beginning 8/2; adjunct faculty will temporarily use the old HR area

• The first Faculty Assembly meeting of fall is 9/15 in SCC 108 at 1:30 p.m.

• After restructuring, Olga Gandara is director of ABE; Tina Shiplet is in charge of curriculum and instruction for ABE

• All bids are in for committees, Andrea is compiling the lists; heads of committees will meet this week to establish their committees
