EVP for Administration, COO and CFO

Welcome to the Office of the EVP for Administration!

Message from David W. Harris:

As a member of the President’s Executive Cabinet, my most important responsibility is to assist the University in meeting the challenges associated with the changing economic environment in higher education. In order to maintain the high standards set by UNM in teaching and research, we must focus on new, creative ways to enhance the resources available to us and to achieve internal efficiencies where possible. I have been working with the Regents, faculty and administration to develop effective long-term strategies to minimize the impact of economic changes that have taken place in higher education during recent years.

In line with these goals, I work closely with the Regents and the President to present financial management issues to be addressed at the monthly Regents' Finance and Facilities Committee meetings.

The departments in my division provide a wide range of financial, administrative, entertainment, recreational and general student services, such as Athletics, Institutional Support Services (the campus Bookstore, Business Services, Golf Courses, Parking & Transportation, Public Events Management, Staff Council, Ticketing Services), Controller’s Office, Facility Planning, Human Resources, Physical Plant, Real Estate, Risk Management, University Business Policies, and fiscal oversight of Branch Campuses.

As part of the supervision of these departments, it is my goal to ensure that campus facilities remain abreast of the technological advances necessary to maintain UNM’s leading-edge status in research and provide state-of-the-art student services. It is also a high priority to ensure that the campus environment continues to be both enjoyable and functional.

I welcome and encourage interaction with all of the University’s constituencies in our mission to build upon UNM’s many outstanding accomplishments.
