All plans subject to change as the project may change or the environment around the project may cause the plans to change. Currently there are 23 active UNM Construction projects underway! NEW ENTRY TO HOSPITAL WILL BEGIN IN SEPTEMBER 2007 – Look for info to follow from others. PEDESTRIAN UPGRADE WILL CAUSE REDONDO @ CORNELL TO CLOSE July 30 – August 10 Redondo will close Monday Morning, July 30, 2007. Redondo will be closed from just west of the Cornell Parking Structure Entrance to just east of the SUB Delivery road …leaving the Bookstore Loading Dock Open. The following activities will take place between July 30 and August 10: Saw cut existing asphalt paving. Remove existing asphalt paving. Place steel reinforcement rod (rebar). Place concrete paving. Allow concrete cure time. PLANNED UTILITY OUTAGES SCHOLES HALL AND DANE SMITH HALL A Domestic Water outage will affect Dane Smith Hall and Scholes Hall On Saturday, July 28 from 7 am to 7 pm. This means that the toilets will not work, so act accordingly. There will be no high pressure steam on Thursday August 9 from 5 am to 5 pm in the Basic Medical Sciences Building.
LOBO CARE MOVING The LoboCare Clinic will be moving to its new location on Medical Arts NE early July. The new clinic will be larger and offer more parking. DEMOLITION OF CRITICAL CARE WINGS AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL BEGAN JUNE 25 Jaynes and Dunn have started to put up construction fencing in preparation for the demolition of the critical care wing the University Hospital. Fencing will be placed at the entrance to the cancer center drive loop, the stairs at the plaza and the north entrance at neuroscience. Staff will need to use the entrance sidewalk between the new building and the west parking garage then enter the new building through the west entrance to access the older part of the hospital. All hallways will be closed into the Critical Care Wing . Temporary construction walls will be installed in the hallways. The contractor will be starting demolition the 25th of June. GROUNDWATER MONITORING Just a friendly heads up that (weather permitting) from 7/30/07 through MW-1, N. of Parking & Transportation; At this time, we hope to do the monitoring work according to the Monday, 7/30/07 - MW-1, MW-6 and DSMW-1 ; The schedule may change based on campus feedback regarding critical use SRS and/or Parking & Transportation will be barricading off parking Please advise personnel in your building/area that may be temporarily .UNM EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM NOW AVAILIBLE The University of New Mexico's new Emergency Notification System is now available for emergency messages to the Albuquerque campus. Redondo Drive West – in front of the construction site for the new Centennial Engineering Center – is narrower. There is a new handicapped and pedestrian route that goes from just south of the MLK/Redondo Intersection, along University Blvd on the sidewalk, and then back up to the area near Mechanical Engineering where a pathway has be cut into the berm and asphalted. B Zone Parking Spaces on Redondo Displaced During Centennial Engineering Center Construction B Zone parking spaces on Redondo Rd., across from the Centennial Engineering Center construction project, will be displaced until the new building is complete, approximately two years from now. B Zone Permit holders will no longer be able to park along the portion of Redondo Rd that runs parallel to University Blvd., between Central Ave. and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Alternative B Zone parking is available nearby at the Parking and Transportation Services Parking Lot on the northwest corner of University and Central. Other System Outages UNM supplies its drinking water for Central Campus and portions of North Campus. South Campus and the remainder of North Campus run on the City of Albuquerque drinking water system. During UNM system outages, all campuses use City of Albuquerque drinking water system.
