Emergency Phones
There are approximately 106 emergency blue phones located throughout the campus. Blue pole phones marked "emergency" are designed to dial the UNM Police Department directly when the red button is pushed. Callers talk directly with the communications operator through the speaker on the pole. Police, security, rescue or other appropriate personnel are then dispatched.

This type of emergency phone is also equipped with a blue light that flashes when the red button is pushed. Other emergency phones are red standard style phones marked "Police" which are mounted on walls in various places. These phones also dial only directly to the UNM Police Department. The University of New Mexico Police Department can be contacted from any other phone on the campus by dialing 911.

Cell phones dialing 911 will go the the City of Albuqueruque's 911 service. Police Dispatch can be reached from cellphones by dialing 277-2241.
