Located on the third football practice field south of University Stadium, the indoor practice facility will be 210 feet wide by 410 feet long and accommodate the UNM Football team.
The facility has within it a regulation-sized football field with sidelined 7-yard run-outs. The dome is 76 feet high.
In the pictures you can see the steel-truss supports and the polyclad-fabric pulled over the top for roofing. The roofing fabric covering allows air to circulate. HVAC systems will be absent, and heating and cooling will be accomplished by opening and closing overhead doors.
The playing surface is
FieldTurf, which is softer than artifical grass and is used in other professional football practice facilities. The polyethylene fibers and rubber will be more absorbtive.
Also included in the project are two filming towers, power lines, phone lines and fire-detection equipment.
Cost: $6 million --
about $69.68 a square foot for 86,100 square feet.
