When you enter the University of New Mexico, look for a sign like this to direct you to visitor parking and the new Welcome Center. This sign is posted at every major vehicular entrance at UNM.

GETTING TO UNM:
Take I-25 to Central Avenue NE (Old U.S. Route 66) and go east for about a mile to UNM Main Campus. Enter the Main Campus by turning left at the Yale entrance, which is marked by street light. Take an immediate right and continue east along Redondo South. You will pass two stop signs before you reach the Visitor's Parking Structure, which is located just west of Johnson Field.

PARKING YOUR VEHICLE:
The Cornell Visitor's Parking Structure is located on the north side of Redondo Rd and just beyond the UNM Bookstore. Parking fees are usually $1.25 per hour. During large-scale events, parking attendants charge a flat fee of $5. The Cornell Parking Structure includes ample handicap spaces.

WELCOME TO THE UNM CAMPUS:
Now that you've parked your vehicle, where are you going? The Welcome Center, which is located on the southwest corner of the parking structure, has staff ready to help you. Drop by the Welcome Center for a campus map, university information or UNM publications. The Department of Strategic Communications and Marketing is also located in the Welcome Center facility. Visit their website at http://www.unm.edu/visitor Once you are finished there, round the corner of the building and enter the Cornell Mall.

UNM BOOKSTORE:
To the south, you will see the UNM Bookstore. The Bookstore has everything from school supplies and lobo clothing to computer software and textbooks. Also inside is a Starbuck's Coffee shop, locker area and convenience store. In recent years, every purchase is tax free during the first week of fall and spring semesters with a student identification card. Learn more about the UNM Bookstore at http://bookstore.unm.edu

CORNELL DRIVE PEDESTRIAN MALL:
To the north, you will see the Cornell Drive Pedestrian Mall. Just ahead, you should see the Center of the Arts building, Popejoy Hall and the Student Union Building. The Cornell Mall is often enriched with live music, student life activities and socializing community members. Begin walking forward toward the Fiesta Statue.

CENTER FOR THE ARTS:
On your left is the Center for the Arts building. It houses Popejoy Hall, Rodey Theater, Keller Hall, The X Theater and the Fine Arts Library. The facility always has brochures available for upcoming shows and a ticket office. Go ahead--walk inside and take a look around!

CENTER FOR THE ARTS LOBBY:
This is the Lobby of the Center for the Arts; Popejoy Hall is on the left. Keller Hall is on the far right, and Rodey Theater is in the back on the left. The University Art Museum is in the back of the lobby, straight ahead.
The restrooms and Theater X are downstairs. Snacks are available before the show and during intermissions at the Footlights Cafe on the right side of the lobby. The Fine Arts Library (FAL) is upstairs across from the SWFC. The FAL will move locations in November 2006 with the completion of the new Architecture building.

Now go back to the Fiesta Statue on Cornell Mall.

JOHNSON CENTER:
Across Cornell Mall from the Center for the Arts is Johnson Center, the University's main campus athletics center. It features gyms, swimming pools, a multilevel cardio machine and weight training room and a multitude of other facilities. You must scan your Lobo Card to gain entrance into this facility.

Now walking north up Cornell Mall you will see the Student Union Building (SUB) on the left and the Student Health Center on the right, and below it, the University Honors Program and the Testing Center.

THE STUDENT UNION BUILDING:
The SUB was recently renovated and includes a variety of features like a movie theator, meeting rooms, a full food court, a piano and large ballroom. It has conference rooms that any student club can rent out for free. The SUB also houses the Southwest Film Center, located on the plaza level of the SUB, room 1018.

MESA VISTA HALL:
Walking farther north along Cornell Mall you will see Mesa Vista Hall (MVH) on the right. MVH is directly north of and adjacent to the Student Health Center (SHC) Building. MVH is home to numerous UNM Student Service Offices and Academic Departments including: African-American Student Services, American Indian Student Services, El Centro de La Raza, the Scholarship Office, the Student Financial Aid Office, the Work Study/Student Employment Office, the Women's Resource Center, the History Department, and many others. Special Programs has moved to 1921 Las Lomas, but was formerly housed in Mesa Vista.

GETTING TO STUDENT SERVICES:
Now as we stand in front of Mesa Vista Hall, you will see a short tunnel running though the first floor. Walk east; go through the tunnel and on the other side you will find your next stop, the Student Services Center (SSC).

STUDENT SERVICES CENTER: The Student Services Center contains many different UNM offices. Offices on the first floor include: Admissions, Undergraduate Studies, the Bursar (Cashiers and Student Accounting) and the entrance to the Student Financial Aid Office in MVH. The second floor houses: Career Services, the Dean of Students, the Registrar, Records and Registration, the Veteran's Office and much more. The basement contains offices, labs and classrooms for the College of Education.

Turn around and exit the Student Services Center through the same cooridor you entered.

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION COMPLEX:
Once you get back to Cornell Mall, turn right and go north again. Go past the white sculpted fountain (on the left) and down the set of large concrete steps ahead of you. This area is the UNM College of Education Complex. On our right, (east) is the Kiva Lecture Hall. It is round and has a large white domed roof. The COE classroom building is on the right (west), and the COE Administration Building (glass walls) is straight ahead (north). Now turn around, and go back up the steps (south) toward Mesa Vista Hall.

Turn right again and walk west past the SUB. Ahead of you will be an even larger set of stairs and Smith Plaza, a large open area.

SMITH PLAZA:
On the north side of Smith Plaza, we see Zimmerman Library, the largest library in the entire state of New Mexico. On the south side of Smith Plaza, we see the Humanities Building, or Onate Hall. The Humanities Building houses the Departments of English, Math, Philosophy and many others.

ZIMMERMAN LIBRARY: Zimmerman Library is home to the Humanities collections of the UNM General Library System. The library has a small coffee shop, computer lab, copy center, CAPS, quiet study area and conference rooms. Zimmerman also has several librarians available to help you find your way around the library.

Now, walk west across Smith Plaza towards the grassy, tree covered area ahead of you. On your left (south) you pass Ortega Hall, the home of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. The second floor also houses the Academic Advisement office for the College of Arts and Sciences.

MITCHELL HALL:
Now looking west you see Mitchell Hall, an all classroom building. Most Undergraduates can expect to have a few classrooms in this facility. In the foreground is the Alumni Clock and next to it is the Famous UNM Duck Pond.

THE DUCK POND:
The Duck Pond was completed in 1976. It has been a hit with students since then, and is considered to be the heart of the campus community. At this public park you will run into people from all walks of life. Wedding parties can often be found here being photographed on sunny Saturday afternoons throughout the year.

WEST END OF ZIMMERMAN:
To finish your tour, walk around the East Side of the pond (by the Historic West End of Zimmerman Library), to Dane Smith Hall.

DANE SMITH HALL:
Dane Smith Hall (DSH) opened in 1999 and is UNM's second all-classroom facility on main campus. Most undergraduates have a class in this building during their first two semesters at UNM. The circle of pavement in front of the building is Dane Smith Circle. Dane Smith Hall contains: Dane's Deli, a CIRT computer pod (lab), Digital Printing Copy Center, a number of large lecture halls and smaller class rooms. The Evening and Weekend Program also has a branch office here.

UNM SHUTTLE BUS SYSTEM:

To ride back, walk to the Dane Smith Circle and stand near the yellow curb. The Shuttle Bus System runs about every 15 minutes from 6:45 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

To walk back, go south around the duck pond, turn left and go west at Mitchell Hall. Go west across Smith Plaza past Zimmerman, then turn right at the SUB go south down Cornell Mall past Popejoy to Visitor Parking.
