When you enter the University of New Mexico, look for a sign like this to direct you to visitor parking and the new Welcome Center. This sign is posted at every major vehicular entrance at UNM.
GETTING TO UNM:
Take I-25 to Central Avenue NE (Old U.S. Route 66) and go east for about
a mile to UNM Main Campus. Enter the Main Campus by turning left at the
Yale entrance, which is marked by street light. Take an immediate right
and continue east along Redondo South. You will pass two stop signs before
you reach the Visitor's Parking Structure, which is located just west
of Johnson Field.
PARKING
YOUR VEHICLE:
The Cornell Visitor's Parking Structure is located on the north side of
Redondo Rd and just beyond the UNM Bookstore. Parking fees are usually
$1.25 per hour. During large-scale events, parking attendants charge a flat
fee of $5. The Cornell Parking Structure includes ample handicap spaces.
WELCOME
TO THE UNM CAMPUS:
Now that you've parked your vehicle, where are you going? The Welcome
Center, which is located on the southwest corner of the parking structure,
has staff ready to help you. Drop by the Welcome Center for a campus map,
university information or UNM publications. The Department of Strategic
Communications and Marketing is also located in the Welcome Center facility.
Visit their website at http://www.unm.edu/visitor
Once you are finished there, round the corner of the building and enter
the Cornell Mall.
UNM
BOOKSTORE:
To the south, you will see the UNM Bookstore. The Bookstore has everything
from school supplies and lobo clothing to computer software and textbooks.
Also inside is a Starbuck's Coffee shop, locker area and convenience store.
In recent years, every purchase is tax free during the first week of fall
and spring semesters with a student identification card. Learn more about
the UNM Bookstore at http://bookstore.unm.edu
CORNELL
DRIVE PEDESTRIAN MALL:
To the north, you will see the Cornell Drive Pedestrian Mall. Just ahead,
you should see the Center of the Arts building, Popejoy Hall and the Student
Union Building. The Cornell Mall is often enriched with live music, student
life activities and socializing community members. Begin walking forward
toward the Fiesta Statue.
CENTER
FOR THE ARTS:
On your left is the Center for the Arts building. It houses Popejoy Hall,
Rodey Theater, Keller Hall, The X Theater and the Fine Arts Library. The
facility always has brochures available for upcoming shows and a ticket
office. Go ahead--walk inside and take a look around!
CENTER
FOR THE ARTS LOBBY:
This is the Lobby of the Center for the Arts; Popejoy
Hall is on the left. Keller
Hall is on the far right, and Rodey
Theater is in the back on the left. The University
Art Museum is in the back of the lobby, straight ahead. The
restrooms and Theater
X are downstairs. Snacks are available before the show and during
intermissions at the Footlights Cafe on the right side of the lobby. The
Fine Arts Library (FAL)
is upstairs across from the SWFC. The FAL will move locations in November
2006 with the completion of the new Architecture building.
Now go back to the
Fiesta Statue on Cornell Mall.
JOHNSON

Across Cornell Mall from the Center for the Arts is Johnson Center, the
University's main campus athletics center. It features gyms, swimming
pools, a multilevel cardio machine and weight training room and a multitude
of other facilities. You must scan your Lobo

and Smith Plaza, a large open area.
SMITH
PLAZA:
On the north side of Smith Plaza, we see Zimmerman Library, the largest
library in the entire state of New Mexico. On the south side of Smith
Plaza, we see the Humanities Building, or Onate Hall. The Humanities Building

The Duck Pond was completed in 1976. It has been a hit with students since
then, and is considered to be the heart of the campus community. At this
