Project Description: Cooperative project between various main campus and HSC campus departments within UNM. The major goal of this project is to create, implement and evaluate a culturally relevant and age-appropriate obesity intervention for School-Based Health Centers to help decrease the risk of adolescent metabolic syndrome development.

Project Title: University of Southern Denmark Teaching/Research Collaboration Exchange Travel Grant.
Project Description: The purpose of this exchange is to critically examine examples of health communication that take place cross-culturally in advertising, health campaigns as well as in various healthcare practices from the Danish and US perspectives. In addition, a joint seminar is taught on location in Denmark.

Project Title: Culture's influence on health policy: A systemic analysis of health literacy levels in Denmark and the United States.
Project Description: The purpose of the project was to examine whether health literacy problems are culture-bound, ,i.e. whether certain cultures are better equipped to deal with the literacy problem.

Project Title: Evaluating the NM Mental Health Stigma Reduction Campaign
Project Description: Cooperative project between Dept. of C&J faculty and UNM HSC campus departments. The primary goal of the proposed study is to design the evaluation and analyze the data of a planned mental health stigma campaign the Behavioral Health Services Division of the NM Human Service Department is preparing for Winter 07/08.
