Tips for Finding URL's (Internet Site
Addresses)
- The most common Internet address for a business is to
start the web address with www., put the company name in the
middle, and end the address with .com (for commercial).
So take a guess for a company name or place of business. For example,
for the New York Times, try
www.nytimes.com and
for the Albuquerque Journal, try
www.abqjournal.com.
- The most common Internet address for an academic institution
is to start the web address with www., put the institution's
name in the
middle, and end the address with .edu (for educational
institution). For example, for Western Governors University try
www.wgu.edu
- Other common suffixes for web address are: .gov for government,
.org for non-profit organization, .net for Internet organizations,
.mil for the military.
