Gender
Gender definitions of women (femininity) and men (masculinity) are determined by ones culture within a particular historical moment. This means that gender is socially constructed and can change over time and from one culture, country and subculture to another. The term gender implies that a complex process of socialization, rather than just biology, constructs our identities as women and men.

Sex
Sex refers to human biological characteristics—chromosomes, anatomy, and hormones—of males, females, and intersexed persons. The construction of human biological sex is more complex than its most common categorization of female/male opposites. Most people fall somewhere along the spectrum of human biological sex.
