WOMEN STUDIES BEST UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT PAPER

The Women Studies Best UNDERGRADUATE Student Essay Award reflects the UNM Women Studies Program’s commitment to encouraging excellence in academic writing, critical thinking, research, and theoretical sophistication. The writer of the Best Paper will receive $350.00; first runner-up receives $200.00; and second runner-up receives $100.00.
To be eligible for this award, the paper submitted must be for a Women Studies class, a class cross-listed with Women Studies, or a class that received approval for Women Studies credit and was taught in the fall semester of 2008 or spring 2009.
Papers must be at least 7 pages long and be nominated by a UNM faculty member (tenure-track, lecturer, adjunct, or TA) who attests to the paper’s excellence. Papers must offer a clear argument, use research materials, and provide citations and bibliographies. The Chicago Manual of Style, the MLA Style Sheet, or the APA Style Guide may be used for style questions. Papers in rough draft form will not be accepted.
The submission deadline is Friday, May 1, 2009 by 4 p.m.. Please turn in papers to the Women Studies office, 2130 Mesa Vista Hall. . Please provide your email and phone number on the paper.
