The Association of Water Professionals (AWP) is the official WRP student organization. The AWP arranges talks and social events, engages in outreach, and helps students find employment opportunities. The AWP office is located in the Economics Building, Room 1041. Members of AWP can be reached at 505-277-7431.

Student Opportunities:

Research projects in the area of weather forecasting and its links to water resources are available to WRP students. These projects are sponsored by Dr. Joe Galewsky in UNM's Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences in collaboration with the Albuquerque National Weather Service office. Potential projects include the development and validation of forecasting techniques relating to: irrigation, evapotranspiration, flood control, and drainage along the Rio Grande and other New Mexico rivers; fire hazard prediction and forecasting for controlled burns; snowpack and snowmelt forecasting in New Mexico's mountainous regions; short-term wind forecasting for transportation and wind power forecasting.
