NON-DEGREE AND TRANSFER STUDENTSSome prospective MWR students may choose to enroll in MWR classes as non-degree students. Non-degree students are limited to a maximum of 9 credit hours per semester. See http://www.unm.edu/~grad/ndc/ndc.html. The Non-Degree Graduate Student Services office is located in Mitchell Hall 108, 505-277-0022, 277-6044; toll-free 1-877-7978203; fax: 505-277-6050. Upon admission to the MWR program, a maximum of 12 graduate credit hours taken under non-degree status may be transferred into the program. Graduate courses taken at another accredited institution may count as much as 50% (18 credits) of the MWR course work. This is not automatic; courses must be approved by the WRP. In any case, each course to be transferred or applied, whether taken at UNM or elsewhere, must have been taken for a letter grade with a grade no lower than B. The seven-year rule, which obligates students to complete their Master’s degree within seven years, becomes effective with the first class a student takes that is going to be applied to the program’s degree requirement, independent of the fact that the class was taken as a non-degree or MWR student. Non-degree and transfer courses are listed on the OGS Program of Study form.
