Disclosures by Program
The University of New Mexico provides important information about professional licensure for prospective, current, and admitted students. In accordance with the U.S. Department of Education’s Code of Federal Regulations (CFR §668.43), UNM must inform students whether its programs meet state requirements for licensure or certification outside of New Mexico.
Visit the table and map below to review UNM’s Professional Licensure Disclosures displaying each program's licensure status for different states and U.S territories. The information lists a disclosure for each program:
- Meets - Meets educational requirements for licensure in the state/territory,
- Does not meet - Does not meet educational requirements for licensure in a state/territory,
- Does not meet (undetermined) - No determination has been made regarding whether the program meets educational requirements for licensure in a state/territory, or
- Not applicable - Licensure is not needed to practice in a state/territory.
The display below is interactive and will show you whether a program meets educational requirements for licensure in any US state or territory. To select a program, type keywords into the Search Programs search area. You can select program level and search by concentration within a program. Select a campus by using the buttons below the search fields. You can clear all selections using the Clear Filters button.
This page helps connect prospective students, applicants, and current students to professional licensure information. The U.S. Department of Education Code of Federal Regulations CFR §668.43 requires colleges and universities to communicate publicly and directly to prospective and current students if programs leading to a license or certification meet other state's requirements.
UNM strives to stay informed about the current state requirements for certification or licensure as these are subject to change. Since only state agencies have the authority to determine if an academic program satisfies the criteria for certification or licensure, UNM cannot assure the attainment of any certificate or license for an individual.
To view UNM’s professional licensure disclosures for each program and state, review the list below. Clicking on a program’s name will provide links to the program’s webpage where you will find additional information about the preparation provided by the program, links to applicable licensing boards and specific disclosures of licensure status of the program in each state:
- The program meets educational requirements for licensure.
- The program does not meet educational requirements for licensure.
- The institution has not determined whether the program meets educational requirements for licensure.
For those purposes states include the District of Columbia and the U.S. protectorates, as defined in 34 CFR §600.2
Programs Not Listed - This page only lists programs identified as fulfilling the educational requirements for professional licensure. If you have questions regarding any program not listed on the Professional Licensure page, please contact the Chair of the Department within which the program resides.
The following individual disclosures are being sent out as indicated below:
- 668.50(c)(1)(i)
- Prior to prospective student enrollment, students are being advised as to what determination has been made in terms of whether the program meets the student’s home state professional licensure certification pre-education requirements
- 668.50(c)(1)(ii)(A)
- Each enrolled and prospective student is receiving a notice of any adverse actions filed against the institution by a state or accrediting agency: 30-day notification
- 668.50(c)(1)(ii)(B)
- Each enrolled and prospective student is being advised if a program in which they are enrolled ceases to meet professional licensure certification pre-education requirements in the specific state in which the student is located: 14-day notification
These disclosures are provided to ensure that any student pursuing a degree or certificate that leads to a profession that requires professional licensure is aware of whether UNM’s programs meet the educational requirements for licensure in states other than New Mexico. New Mexico’s licensing or certification requirements may not be adequate to obtain a professional license in other states, and all states can periodically change their licensure requirements.
