Qualitative Research Methods Textbook Bibliography

Here is a selected list of books that provide solid information about how to design, conduct and think about qualitative research projects. New editions become available periodically, so if you want the most recent version, check with the publisher before purchasing. My list does not include texts focusing on case study research or books focusing on qualitative data analysis. Psychologists and psychology majors will find another set of introductory and advanced books listed on my Qualitative Research in the Psychological Sciences Bibliography (PDF format, 4 pages). Visit my Academic Resources for Academic Research and Writing page for a selected list of books on writing paper, literature reviews, dissertations and theses, getting organized, and understanding academic life. Best wishes for a productive learning experience! -- Jan Armstrong, University of New Mexico
