GROUP PROJECT 1, 2 & 3 GUIDELINES
Detailed Group Project 1 & 2 Guidelines
*Class Note!: The modality of choice will be assigned to you for Project 1 & 2! These reports need to be typed and not hand-written!
Here is what the reports need to include--Be thorough!
I. Cover Page (2 pt)
*Title (i.e. Treadmill Stress Test Project)
*Presented by: 1st name listed should have Primary Investigator next to name.
*All other names of people in group
II. Introduction (4 pt)
*This is a paragraph or two on maximal stress testing (why we do it and how it is done, for instance) and then introduce whether you are doing a treadmill test or cycle ergometer test and some of the "pros and cons" of this type of testing.
III. Subject descriptives (3 pt)
*Put this information in table format: Age (yr), Ht (cm), Wt (kg), exercise history, what type of exercise, any limitations of subject, etc.
IV. Protocol (5 pts)
*Explain how you developed the protocol and what rationale you used. This is the time to do any extra research on exercise protocol development and cite the article/textbook in text.
*Also include the following in this section:
-Show an XY figure of protocol as shown in textbooks
-Show ACSM calculations (only need the VO2 and METS) of your warm-up, each stage of your test, and recovery
V. Description of the test (5 pts)
*What you measured and when. For instance, make sure you get resting, exercise, and recovery data for the following:
-RPE, HR, BPs, EKGs
-What was the criteria you will use for attaining max?
VI. Analysis, evaluation, and discussion of the test (6 pts)
*Present the rest, max, and recovery data in some type of TABLE
*Evaluate the HR, BP, EKG, and predicted VO2max responses as we have learned in class. Graph each over time!!
*Evaluate your protocol using information from class and any additional
research/information (i.e., was it between 8 to 12 minutes, did the subject attain/meet your criteria for max, etc.).
Detailed Group Project 3 Guidelines
You can use any modality for Project 3. This project needs to be typewritten!
Here is what it needs to include--Be thorough! I have capitalized and colored the only parts different in Project 3
I. Cover Page (2 pt)
*Title (Such as Treadmill Stress Test Project)
*Presented by: 1st name listed should have Primary Investigator next to name.
*All other names of people in group
II. Introduction (5 pt)
*THIS IS A PARAGRAPH DISCUSSING THE COLLECTION OF GASES DURING
A MAXIMAL STRESS TEST1
-Show an XY figure of your protocol as shown in textbooks
-DONT NEED TO SHOW ACSM ESTIMATES HERE!!
V. Description of the test (5 pts)
*What you measured and when. For instance, make sure you get resting, exercise, and recovery data for the following:
-VO2, RER, RPE, HR, BPs, EKGs
-What was the criteria you will use for attaining max?
-REMEMBER, WITH THIS TEST YOU ARE COLLECTING GAS SO YOU
CAN HAVE DIFFERENT VO2MAX CRITERIA!
VI. Analysis, evaluation, and discussion of the test (10 pts)
*Present the rest, max, and recovery data in some type of TABLE
*Evaluate the responses of HR, BP, VO2, and other gas collection variables of your choosing as we have learned in class. Graph them each over time!!!
*Evaluate your protocol using information from class and any additional
research/information (i.e., was it between 8 to 12 minutes, did the subject attain/meet your criteria for max, etc.).
*Write a doctors note interpreting the EKG as you have learned in class
VII. APPENDIX
*SUBMIT THE EKG, GAS ANALSYIS PRINTOUT, AND ALL FORMS USED.
PARTICIPATION IS WHERE THE LEARNING OCCURS--WORK TO SCHEDULE YOUR TIME SO ALL GROUP MEMBERS CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE TEST!
