- He denies having a romantic relationship with 'la gata salvaje' (the
leading-lady from the telenovela "The Untamed Cat")
- He's dedicated to his work body and soul
Many things were commented after it became known that Gabriela Spanic and Miguel de
León were getting a divorce, but everything has remained in the past and
the actor is happy now, preparing himself for what will soon be his new telenovela
under the direction of Rosy Ocampo.
We bumped into Miguel de León and couldn't stop ourselves from asking him
if it was true that he was going out with Marlene Favela, as has been insistently
rumored. "No, Marlene and I are friends. We had
worked together in "Carita de Ángel", and then later on she was in "La Intrusa"
where my ex-wife worked. Somewhat of a friendship developed from that time on.
In Miami, Marlene and I have mutual friends and on occasion would go out
with them as a group. Here in Mexico, we've also gone out but as friends.
There is nothing more to it than that. What happens is that people can't
stand to see anyone single/alone without immediately trying to pair them up with
someone, but it's much too soon for that."
ON THE BRINK OF SIGNING THEIR DIVORCE
His divorce with Gaby Spanic is still not finalized because of the difficult times
their country is experiencing. "Not yet, we need to go
to Venezuela to sign (the paperwork). It'll probably be in April (2003) when
we do go. Everything is in the court's hands. Gabriela and I haven't
spoken recently. We had kept in touch throughout the end of last year; but this
year, we've communicated far less because everything's been resolved. We've
ended in excellent terms. Everything has been handled by one lawyer; it was a
mutually agreed-on divorce. Something as wonderful (as what we once had)
does not have to end in an ugly fashion."
IN SEARCH OF HAPPINESS
Acknowledging that the separation hurt him but that it was the best decision they
could have made: "Look, all separations hurt everyone
involved. It hurt her, it hurt me, that's normal. I feel the decision
we made was the best one for both. Each of us has a right to search for
his/her happiness. I believe the main objective of all human beings in this
life is the pursuit of that happiness."
'I FEEL SORRY FOR GABY'
Talking about Gabriela Spanic's recent breakup with José Ángel Llamas,
Miguel commented: "I am deeply saddened and am
truly sorry. She deserves to be happy but unfortunately, this was not the
right person. Regrettably, a reconciliation between us is not possible.
I hope everything goes well for her... and I hope she finds that true
love."
