  • Purpose
    • Promote the Understanding of Finance
    • Provide Service to the Local Community
    • Provide Service to FIA Members
  • Goals
    • Promote the Understanding of FInance among FIA Members
      • Strategy:
        • Sponsor lectures and seminars on advanced financial topics
        • Become actively involved with the local Albuquerque chapter of the American Association of Individual Investors (AAII)
        • Visit active financial institutions such as Thornburg Investment Management in Santa Fe, as well as Lopper Financial in Denver
    • Assist Financin Activities of Active Businesses
      • Strategy:
        • Partner with Accion New Mexico, a non-profit organization that provides financial advice and training to small business owners. Our affiliation with Accion New Mexico will familiarize FIA members with the financial environment and needs of active businesses and allow them to participate in developing solutions to financial challenges.
        • Excecute a prepared telephone survey designated to measure the community's overall level of finance knowledge and identify opportunities for FIA to provide informal financial advice to community service organizations and small businesses.
    • Assist in FIA Member Career Planning and Placement
      • Strategy:
        • Gather and disseminate info on finance employment opportunities
          • Monitor the market for financial employment opportunities
        • Establish a prospective employer network of finance proffesionals
        • Maintain and make available student resumes to prospective employers
        • Provide insight on finance workplace responsibilities and activities and finance career progression
        • Work with the CFA Institute to educate members on the CFA certification process
        • Work with the CFP Board of Standards Inc. to educate members on the CFP certification process
    • Provide Personal Financial and Investment Planning Assistance to FIA members, students and other members of the Community
      • Strategy:
        • Receive training and accredidation from proffesional personal finance consulting institutions
        • Become actively involved with the local AAII chapter
        • Participate in the "Feed the Pig" Campaign. a joint program between the American Insitue of Certified Public Accountants and the AD Council to bring financial responsibility awareness to young people
