What are the responsibilities of the CGA Department?

    Contract & Grant Accounting's (CGA) objective is to provide support to the university in administering sponsored projects. Sponsored projects are research, instruction, public service, or other projects involving funds, materials, or other compensation from an outside source under an agreement. CGA is responsible to the university and to the funding agencies for the financial and regulatory administration of contracts and grants. We interpret policies of private and governmental funding agencies to ensure that expenditures adhere to regulations and guidelines. We interpret, initiate, and implement UNM policies and procedures related to contracts and grants. We are also responsible for generating fiscal reports and submitting final financial reports, billing, revenue collection and management, responding to audit requests, subrecipient monitoring, and effort certification compliance.
