Colin Olson

I came to academia through a praxis oriented undergraduate sociology department at Western Oregon University. There it was impressed upon me the vital role education can play in creating a critical informed citizenry. I try to instill this critical, yet scientifically grounded view in my students; not so that they can become more informed consumers, but so that they can become more informed and articulate citizens.

I take research equally seriously, working scientifically to achieve answers to questions that impact individuals, communities, and beyond. What excites me about research is the ability to contribute to our knowledge of persistent and emerging problems.
