Edmund was born July 2, 1854, in Patterson, Hardin Co., Ohio. He died Oct. 4, 1905, at Forest, Ohio. He left home in Aug., 1874, taught 2 terms in Delaware and in Henry Cos., Ind., and from latter place went to Adrian Mich., where he spent 3 1/2 years at college, graduatin A. B. (June, 1879) and A. M. (1882). He entered the ministry in Michigan direct from college. He went to Ohio in Sept, 1992, and there served cha charges (2 years each) at Richmond, Union Co., Middletown, Butler Co., West Caire, Allen Co., Elmore, Ottawa Co., and Forest , Hardin Co.k, that state.
Mr. Brumbaugh spent considerable time, throughout a number of years, in gathering material for a family history in which he received considerable help from his wife. In a letter of January 7, 1880, from Elmore, Ohohio to Hon. Orville Sanford Brumbach he gave the above biographical points and further said: "As to the proposed Family Catalogue, it may be some time yet that we will be gathering material. I had thought to confine it to my own brance of about 1000 peole. but may enlarge it so as to include the other five branches....In my lists I have 375 names of th eBrumbaugh connections not related to me.... I shall be thankful for any help in the matter which you can give me." His widow very kindly turned over thto the writer such material as had been gathered and it hs formed a very important basis for this section of the present publication.
Oct. 20, 1880, Mr. Brumbaugh married Isabella C. Smith, born Sept. 27, 1859, at Delphos, Allen Co., Ohio. She was the daughter of George and Henrietta (Ferru) Smith. Mrs Brumbaugh was educated in the public schools, inclluding the Lansing, Mich., high school. She taught in the public schools 1876-1880. The residence was Forest, Harding Co., Ohio.
