John was born on Oct. 25, 1850, at Salem, Roanoke Co., Va. On May 14, 1874, he married Lula M. Kelly, born July 5, 1852, at Amsterdam, Va. She was the daughter of John Henry and Sarah Jane (Hanes) Kelly. Mr Brumbaugh was a farmer until 1880, caprenter to 1900; licensed minister in M. E. Church, South in 1880, ordained deacon March, 1884, elder in Roanoke, Va., March, 1896. He served 2 1/2 years in Augusta (Va.) circuit, and since March 25, 1896, has been in the Highland (Va.) circuit. His address was Meadowdale, Highland Co., Va.

He and Lula had six children:

1. Alice Mary, born May 16, 1875; married J. M. Frantz; address,
Frontville, Va., R. R. (2 sons).

2. Edgar Asbury, born Jan. 30, 1878; minister; address, Salem, Va.

3. David Henry, born May 30, 1880; married Addie Hunget,
418 E. 8th St., Portsmouth, O. (3 children).

4. Flora Maude, born Dec. 16, 1882, married F. T. Leftwich;
address, Roanoke, Va. (3 children).

5. Laura Willie, born Aug. 12, 1886; married M. F. Staples; address
Fisherville, Va., R. R. (2 sons).

6. Magdalena Elizabeth, born Nov. 25, 1889; Meadowdale, Va.,
Unmarried.
