Santa Fe and Taos Trips:
Santa Fe is a short 45 minute drive to the north of ABQ via Interstate 25. You should definitely consider taking the scenic Turquoise Trail either to of from Santa Fe. It will take a little longer, but it has some great views and neat little towns like Madrid (arts and shopping) and Cerrillos (Old NM Town). We highly recommend stops in Santa Fe at the Plaza, Canyon Road and Ten Thousand Waves Spa! There are lots of very nice hotels along the plaza (La Posada, Eldorado, and More!) but we usually stay at the reasonably priced Garrett's Desert Inn which is in walking distance to the plaza.

Taos is about a 2 hour drive to the north of Albuquerque. It is a beautiful, artsy town. They also have a native american pueblo tour there.

Native American Trips:
One of the best short trips we have taken from Albuquerque is to the Acoma Sky City Pueblo. It is the longest continually inhabited place in the US. It sits high up on a rock formation and the landscape is beautiful. It is a little over an hour drive to the west of Albuquerque. Jemez is also a neat location. It is about an hour northwest of Albuquerque.
