CE 598-009 Contemporary Issues in Construction Research »

This course is intended to provide an introduction and overview to the construction industry and to management principles necessary for the conduct and control of a construction contracting business. While this graduate course will meet in class during the semester, graduate students will use WebCT communication tools (e.g., blog, chat, etc.) to discuss with the instructor and with other fellow classmates on selected additional readings and assignments that will be identified throughout the semester by the instructor. This additional component is designed (1) to review topics in construction management, (2) to identify and discuss contemporary issues in construction practice, and (3) to analyze current research effort to address these issues. Individual student presentations and a team project will reinforce concepts learned in class, but it will also allow students to refine written and oral communications that are indispensable skills within the construction industry. Offered every Fall semester.

CE 598 Contemporary Issues in Construction Practice »
This special topic course will be focusing on the best practices defined and developed by the Construction Industry Institute (CII) (http://www.construction-institute.org) over the last twenty five years.  Professionals from CII member companies will provide lectures that will be televised in several UNM campuses, including Main Campus, Sandia Labs, and Los Alamos. The course offers an opportunity to learn from and share your own experience with senior executives and leaders in the construction industry.  Offered every Fall semester.
