  3.  Read From Trivial Pursuit to Essential Questions and Standards-Based Learning by Jamie McKenzie and be prepared to discuss these questions:

  5.  Read Kids Master Mathematics When They're Challenged But Supported and be prepared to discuss these questions:.

  6.  Read Teaching Secrets: What Kids Wish Teachers Knew by Laurie Waserman and be prepared to discuss these questions:

  7.  Post your QuickTopic blog entry addressing the following questions regarding the readings as a whole:

  • What theme(s) or big ideas did you feel these readings reflected? Be specfic and support your thoughts with evidence quoted from the articles.
  • What are your reactions to the themes or big ideas you identified? How could you relate to them? What ah-ha moments did you experience? What implications might those ah-ha moments have for your goal to become a teacher?
  • One theme I saw was that instruction should represent genuine challenge about meaningful ideas while providing support for success. Did you experience anything like that in your schooling? If yes, how did you respond as a student? If not, how did you feel about school? How might your feelings about school have been different if you had?
Be sure to address each question fully in paragraph form with topic sentences and supporting details. Compose your answer in Word with the spell check and grammar check turned on. Proofread your post and address any red underlined (spelling) or green underlined (grammar) issues before copying and pasting your posting your blog.

  7.  Podcast Review due next week. Instructional podcast due on or before the fourth class session.
