MSME Graduation Checklist / Paperwork Flow Chart (for Plans I and II)

This information sheet lists required paperwork and timing only, from the student's viewpoint. Non-adherence to the deadlines indicated here can result in a delay in graduation.

 

Requirement

When

Advisor Assignment Form (Dept)

First Semester (preferably) - Please submit the form to the ME Program Advisement Coordinator.

Graduate Student Activity Report (Dept)

February 15 each year. Follow the instructions on the form.

Committee-on-Studies (Dept)

Important Note: External (non-UNM) committee members (if any) must be approved by the OGS well in advance.

Program of Studies for the Master's Degree (OGS)

OGS Deadlines: 10/1 (for spring graduation), 3/1 (summer), 7/1 (fall). Failure to submit this form on time will delay your graduation. ME Department will require some time to review and approve the form; so, you must submit the form to the ME Program Advisement Coordinator at least two weeks before the above OGS deadlines. All pages must be completed. The OGS usually processes these forms within approximately four weeks after receiving them. So, if the student does not receive a confirmation of approval within a reasonable window of time, he/she should contact ME Program Advisement Coordinator to make sure that the form is not lost.

Intent to Graduate (Dept)

Note: every time your graduation plan changes, you must re-file the "Intent to Graduate" form. Failure to submit this form on time will delay your graduation. You must submit the form to the ME Program Advisement Coordinator before the deadlines shown on the form.

Announcement of Exam (OGS)

Three (3) weeks before defense; fill out and submit the online form on the UNM Graduate Studies website. The Chair of the Committee-on-Studies will be notified once the form is approved.

 

M.S. EXAM DEADLINES: Complete all degree requirements (including defense). In case of Plan I, make all necessary revisions to the manuscript and have it accepted by UNM Graduate Studies (including Information Cover Sheet and Certificate of Final Form). Plan I degree candidates should refer to the UNM Graduate Studies web pages for comprehensive information regarding document submittal.

The following deadlines are strictly enforced by the UNM Graduate Studies:

Spring Graduation - April 15

Summer Graduation - July 15

Fall Graduation - November 15
