Professional Non-Academic Experience


R.M. Designs Catalog and Home Page (1992-1995)

As my vitae indicates, much of my personal experience is with marketing/public relations for the past three years with Rex Marsee designs based in Temecula California (P.O. Box 2588, Temecual, CA 92590), a small and well respected, motorcycle luggage and apparel company specializing in Ducati and the art of raceway speed. I am currently designing and writing their web site scheduled to be launched in January 1996.

I have also written numerious press releases and ad copy documentation as well as designed their brochures and catalogues.

Proceedings of the Southwest Syposium (1995)

I, with the assistance of my English 298 students designed and edited the conference's proceedings journal. We used Pagemaker for the document and Photoshop for the cover.

UNM English Graduate Student Association (1994)

I was researched and wrote a $10,000 computer grant to create a computer lab for the English graduate students and teaching assistants for research equipment and training to use computer assisted classrooms. We obtained the grant and added six new computers plus miscellaneous software to the existing resources.

Workshops (1992, 1995)

I am currently assisting, Society of Technical Communicators (1995)
Assisted Jonathan Price in creating and producing November conference on "Recycling Information" a forum on the Web, SGML and HTML.

In 1992, I assisted Carol Yee in the production of "Managing Projects and People for Maximum Effectiveness," an STC seminar. I chaired the session "Workshop on Equality Management in the Workplace," at that conference.

Chapman University Writing Center (1990)

I wrote a series of instruction sheets for student writers and faculty explaining new Apple system software at the Writing Center's computer lab. These sheets included Spell and Grammar Check in Microsoft Word; Designing Your Page; Opening, Saving, and Quitting on Microsoft Word

Jansen Construction, Inc., Orange, Ca. (1989)

I wrote a guide--Writing a Successful Bid--for statewide company foreman and support staffs explaining how to write bid proposals to commercial and government agencies. Copies of this may be difficult to obtain as the company has since unfolded.

Fairmont Private School, Anaheim, Ca. (1988; revised 1989)

At Fairmont, I wrote my first non-academic work. I designed Interoffice Protocol, a procedures manual for Directors and staff of the Fairmont Private Schools explaining proper use and protocol of interoffice email system. In addition, I put togetherThe Complete Staff Handbook which is a manual for school office, kitchen, and janitorial staff explaining job duties and benefit packages.
